Special Service Dodge Durango

Dodge has begun offering a Special Service Dodge Durango for 2012 that will join the Charger Pursuit and Ram 1500 Special Service vehicles.

The Dodge Durango Special Service SUV is available in either rear or four wheel drive configurations with the standard 3.6L Pentastar V6 or optional 5.7L Hemi V8.

In addition to the standard features of the Durango, the Special Service offers heavy duty braking components, a 220 amp alternator, a heavy duty battery, a high volume water pump and an external engine oil cooler. These features help to deal with harsh driving cycles of police/fire vehicles. The electrical system improvements help accommodate the added strain that radio, lighting, and other police/fire electrical components add to the vehicles charging system.

Chrysler says the Durango SS can tow a class-leading 7,400 pounds, and it offers a bladder-perforating 550-mile range.

The interior offers improved interior lighting and removes the 3rd row seat to allow more room for equipment or canines.
